Amenities Of The Candlewood Lake Communities

When people are searching for a new lake community home, the amenities are usually a selling point. There is nothing like having some of your favorite luxuries right in your own community. Deeded boat slips, private beaches, and children’s summer programs are some of the most sought after amenities.

In some communities such as Orchard Rest in Sherman and Knollcrest in New Fairfield, some of the homeowners without direct water frontage have a boat slip that is deeded to their home. What this means is, when the home sells, the boat slip travels with it. In some Candlewood Lake communities, homeowners have access to a boat slip thru the community marina or moorings. When the owners sell their home, the boat slip or mooring goes back to the community and is offered to the next person on a waiting list.

East Side vs. West Side

The east side of the lake offers western views and beautiful sunsets, making it the most desirable for waterfront homeowners. Commuters prefer the east side for its proximity to all the shopping on Federal Road in Brookfield and Interstate 84.

The west side of the lake offers eastern views and a few southern views on Candlewood Isle and Chatterton Point. While enjoying your morning cup of joe, the west side has impressive sunrise views! For those that commute to New York City, the west side offers easy access to Interstate 684. Most of the homes on the west side initially built in the 1930s, provide a secondary home feel.

Commuting

The commute from the west side of the lake is made east by access Interstates 684 and 84. It is but a short 8-mile ride from the center of New Fairfield down Milltown Road to the I-684 connector. This side of the lake offers easy access to Westchester, NY, and New York City.

The east side in Danbury and Brookfield has access to Interstate 84 for an easy commute to northern or southern Connecticut. No matter where you commute to, Candlewood Lake is not too far from all major cities in the area.

Lake Community Homes Instead of Waterfront?

A buyer’s dream is to own a home on a lake. There are many options for waterfront homes on Candlewood Lake. The more level homes with open water views are the most expensive. Cove fronts sometimes offer a no-wake zone, making the lakefront more peaceful. Wide-open waterfronts with expansive views, provide a lot of lake action. You will find lake community homes an option for space; some offer views and, in some cases, a bit more privacy as on Ridge Road in Candlewood Isle and many of the Sherman lake community on the northern end of Candlewood Lake.

Social Aspects of Living in a Lake Community

When you live off of the water in a lake community, it gives you more options to be social at the community beaches and amenities. As a waterfront homeowner, you can utilize the beach and facilities but are less likely to do so when you own a waterfront paradise with a dock.
